GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Greenville's movie-going experience is getting an upgrade.According to its website, The Hollywood 20, Regal Cinema's location on Woodruff Road is converting one of its screens to IMAX, the giant screen, large-format film process.Right now the only IMAX theatre in South Carolina is in Myrtle Beach, after an IMAX theater in Charleston closed.
WYFF News 4 Beth Brotherton asked guests at the Hollywood 20 to describe the IMAX emperience. Most movie-goers had been to a theatre while on vacation."I went to Spiderman 3 on IMAX," said Lawson Ballard of Greenville. "It was cool, they made you put on glasses and things started flying."Stacy Covington, who was at the Hollywood 20 with her two young boys, said she's been to IMAX movies in Charlotte and Boston."It was 'Land, Water, Air' you were watching a go-cart and you felt like you were going through the desert in a go-cart," Covington said.Few details are available about the project and phone calls to Regal's Corporate office were not returned.Greenville's IMAX screen could open in time for the release of the new "Harry Potter" film in late November.
