SLED Investigating School For Deaf, Blind

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- The State Law Enforcement Division has confirmed there is an open and active investigation regarding the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind.A SLED spokeswoman would not give any details about the case, but said it's in the preliminary stages.News about the investigation follows a decision to replace the school's president after just seven months on the job.
The school's Board of Commissioners won't say why Barbara Shaw was replaced, but made the announcement Friday after a 4.5-hour closed door meeting.According to The State newspaper, Shaw declined to answer questions about the decision. Her attorney could not be reached.Carol Mabry, the school's vice president of outreach services, will serve as the interim president.
