A father saw a sexual message to his 14-year-old daughter on the family's computer, and he played the part of the girl in order to set up the man who sent the messages, police said.

The father saw the messages from "youngniceguy" on Friday. While the father posed as the teen, the man, who was later identified as 36-year-old Alan Dean Sims, solicited sex.

The father called the Greenville County Sheriff's Office and told them about the solicitation.

Sims was arrested when he drove from his home in Boiling Springs to another location in Greenville County for a sexual encounter with the girl, police said.

Sims is charged with criminal solicitation of a minor, a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment and attempted criminal sexual conduct with a minor, a felony offense punishable by up to twenty years imprisonment.

Sims was booked into the Greenville County Detention Center and was released on $75,000 bond.
