PICKENS, S.C. -- Updated 4:15 p.m: Inman Pleads Guilty

Jerry Buck Inman, 36, is accused of strangling Tiffany Marie Souers to death with her bikini top in her off-campus apartment in Central in May 2006.

Inman's trial is scheduled to start on Sept. 8. Prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty in the case.

His attorneys have made multiple pre-trial requests, including a change of venue, but that request and most of their other requests have been denied.

Inman also tried unsuccessfully last year to plead guilty to kidnapping, rape and murder with the caveat that he be sentenced by a judge.

Both sides are under a gag order because the judge is concerned about being able to seat an impartial jury because of the amount of media coverage of the case.

Inman also faces charges in the attempted rape of an Alabama woman and in the rape of another woman in Tennessee before Souers' death.
