GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Tuesday is the first day of school for most Upstate students ... and parents, who are getting up early and getting their children off to class.Public school students in Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson and Pickens counties are all starting classes Tuesday. They'll get no sympathy from students in Laurens County District 55, Greenwood, Cherokee, Oconee or Union counties, who started classes on Monday.
Some Laurens students said they were already missing summer days when they could sleep in, but most said they were eager to start the new year.Laurens 55 Superintendent Dr. Ed Taylor checked in on all 11 schools in his district personally and said that the first day went well.In Abbeville and Asheville, children still have one more day of summer.
