Woman Accused In Jewelry Store Scam In Custody
More Than $8,000 Worth Of Jewelry Stolen

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Greenville police say a woman scammed seven jewelry stores in the city over the past four weeks turned herself in Thursday afternoon.On Wednesday afternoon, police named Tina Bridwell Brannan, of Simpsonville, as the suspect in the scam. Brannan is accused of scamming eight different stores -- three of them, more than once.Investigators said that since mid-October, Brannan purchased more than $8,000 in merchandise using checks written on a closed bank account.
Investigators said Brannan told jewelry store employees that she was purchasing jewelry for family members and that she had left her debit card at home. They said Brannan then purchased the jewelry with checks written on account that is closed.Brannan is accused of using checks written on closed account for the following transactions:Oct. 22: Julies Jewels and Gifts, 579 Haywood Road, $174.90 Oct. 24: Diamonds Choice, 1125 Woodruff Road, $445.20 Oct. 24: Plaza Jewelers, 8 W. Lewis Plaza, $318 Oct. 27: Cochran Jewelry, 211 N. Main St., $874.50 Oct. 28: Plaza Jewelers, 8 W. Lewis Plaza, $664.62 Nov. 3: Hales Jewelers, 532 Haywood Road, $689 Nov. 3: J.B. Lacher Jewelers, 123 College St., $1,568.80 Nov. 4: Jewelry By Design, 401 Augusta St., $447 Nov. 11: Hales Jewelers, 532 Haywood Road, $1,054.70 Nov. 14: Hales Jewelers, 532 Haywood Road, $1,669.50 Nov. 17: Pace Jewelers, 1250 Pendleton St., $1,192.50 Nov. 18: Julies Jewels & Gifts, 579 Haywood Road, $561.80She is being held at the Greenville Detention Center while arrest warrants are being prepared.
