Myra Ruiz

Myra Ruiz studied Journalism and Global Studies at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa.

Her first job out of college took her to KWLO-KFMW in Waterloo, Iowa, where she worked as a radio anchor/reporter. Her contributions there earned her several first place awards from the Associated Press and the Iowa Broadcast News Association in the categories of Best Newscast, General Reporting, Spot News and Documentary.

Myra left radio and took her first television job at KCCI in Des Moines, where she worked as a general assignment reporter until moving to South Carolina. She joined WYFF News 4 in August of 1998 as the Spartanburg bureau's chief reporter and in early 2006 joined the reporting staff at the main WYFF News 4 studios in Greenville.

When she isn't working, Myra enjoys traveling, skiing, listening to music and modern dance.

She and her husband welcomed their first child, a girl, in September 2005.
