Kelly Coakley

Kelly Coakley was born in New York, but considers herself a Texan after growing up in Houston.

Kelly's love for journalism began in high school. During her junior year, the school started a student-run TV station, and that's when Kelly got the bug. In 1998, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio/Television from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas.

Kelly started her career at the FOX affiliate in Nashville, Tenn., where she worked as an associate producer. She comes to Greenville by way of Louisville, Ky., where she worked for the CBS affiliate WLKY and the FOX affiliate WDRB.

Kelly joined WYFF News 4 in 2004 as a producer, but couldn't get reporting out of her blood and, in July 2004, went back to the other side of the camera as a reporter in WYFF 4's Spartanburg newsroom. She's enjoyed covering a wide variety of stories from hurricanes to interviewing a World War II Glider Pilot from Spartanburg County. She also had the unique opportunity to accompany a group of veterans to Washington, D.C. as they visited the WWII monument.

After the birth of her first child in 2005, Kelly took over as anchor of the WYFF News 4 Today weekend morning newscasts. Kelly and her husband Eddie, a local pastor, enjoy doing ministry together and serving their local community.

In her free time, Kelly loves to run, play soccer, and travel. She also loves to eat Mexican food!
