Mark Allen
Mark Allen currently serves as the weekend news anchor for WYFF News 4. He joined the station in May 2005 as a reporter in the Spartanburg Bureau. Before coming to South Carolina, Mark served as an anchor/reporter with WJAC-TV(NBC) in Johnstown, Pa. One of the highlights of his time there was covering the Quecreek Mine rescue. Mark was there, along with members of the media from around the world, when all nine coal miners were pulled to the surface after spending three days trapped underground.Prior to joining WJAC, Mark was an anchor/reporter with WLIO-TV(NBC) in Lima, Ohio. Mark's broadcasting career actually began in radio with the CDR Radio Network in Ohio. The Buckeye State is also where Mark went to school. He graduated from Cedarville University in Ohio in 1998.
Mark didn't decide on a career in media until high school, but the warning signs were there from an early age. While other kids were listening to pop music, Mark could be found reading the newspaper and tuning in news and sports talk on the radio. And ironically, he was born in the town of Media, Pa., just outside of Philadelphia.During his spare time, Mark enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family and friends. Mark and his wife (a Landrum native) live in Greer with their three young children. He enjoys meeting viewers in the community and always welcomes story ideas.Send e-mail to Mark Allen
